Fire Station #1 Replacement Project

Jul 4, 2019, 16:37 PM

Current fire station and new station concept

Fire Station #1 located in the Old City area is Nanaimo's oldest fire station. It has many deficiencies including not being being built to current post-disaster seismic code. After a business case analysis of options to address the deficiencies, Council chose to replace the fire station with a new one. A bylaw to borrow up to $17 million to build a new fire station was given elector approval through an Alternate Approval Process in May 2018.

Staff from the City of Nanaimo and Nanaimo Fire Rescue hosted an information session on July 11, 2019 for residents to learn about the Fire Station 1 Replacement Project.
