Project Description

The Departure Bay Area Utility Upgrade Project consists of the installation of approximately 1,250m water main, 290m of sanitary sewer main, a sanitary sewer siphon with creek crossing, 580m of storm main, ditch infill, and asphalt paving.

The work area is divided into the following areas:

Glenayr Drive (from Loat to Bay)

  • Water Main Upgrade
  • Sewer Main Upgrade
  • Ditch Infill and Storm Main Installation
  • Full Width Paving

Bay Street (from James to Keighley)

  • Water Main Upgrade

Bay Street (from Glenayr to Fairbanks)

  • Storm Sewer Upgrade

Norfolk Hill

  • Water Main Upgrade

Haliday Crescent (from Norfolk to Bay)

  • Water Main Upgrade

Wingrove Street (from Glenayr to Elk)

  • Water Main Upgrade

James Street to Deerborne

  • Sanitary Sewer Siphon

General Considerations

  • Typical hours of work for this project will be Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with work after hours and weekends as required.
  • Construction noise and vibration should be expected during working hours.
  • Residents and businesses will be notified 24 hours in advance of any scheduled water shutdowns.
  • Anticipate traffic pattern changes - Construction signs will be posted and flag persons will be on duty to assist with the traffic flow.
  • If you live in the area and have young children, please advise them of the dangers and limited visibility of heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Landscape restoration will be done at the end of the project.
