Residential Property Tax Estimator

The below Property Tax Estimator can be used to estimate the upcoming year’s property taxes based on the budgeted municipal property tax increase.

While the City of Nanaimo collects property taxes on behalf of external agencies such as the Nanaimo Regional Hospital District, the Regional District of Nanaimo, the School District and others, the City has not yet received the 2024 requisition from those organizations, therefore the estimated increase to the mill rate for those external agencies is based on Victoria’s Consumer Price Index increase of 7.1%.

Please note that the change in your property’s assessed value (as compared to the overall average change in assessed value for residential properties) will impact whether your tax increase is higher or lower than the budgeted increase.

Please use the 2024 residential assessment of your property as published by the BC Assessment Authority. This information can be found on your Assessment Notice or online at bcassessment.ca.
