Beacon House receives additional funding for renovation project
At Monday night's Council Meeting, Council approved additional funding of $40,672 to Beacon House on Protection Island for a renovation project. Beacon House is the community hall for the residents of Protection Island and the building no longer accommodates the needs of the community as well the current facilities are in need of maintenance and repairs.
This joint project with the Protection Island Lions Club will see a new roof and roof system, flooring, energy efficiency improvements including new windows and reconfiguration of the main hall.

- The renovation budget of consists of $90,672 in funding from the City, $40,000 raised by residents and the Protection Island Lions Club and $10,000 of in-kind services from community volunteers.
- Beacon House and the outbuildings, including the museum, are City-owned facilities and are operated by the Protection Island Lions Club and community groups.
