Technical Advisory Group Struck to Review Passenger Ferry Proposals
On July 27, 2016 representatives from the City of Nanaimo, Nanaimo Port Authority and Snuneymuxw First Nation appointed the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the proposed Nanaimo-Vancouver Passenger Ferry Service. The TAG members will review the submissions received from Island Ferry Services Limited, Riverside Marine and Clipper Navigation.
A recommendation from the TAG is expected by October 2016.
Strategic Link: N/A
- City of Nanaimo, Nanaimo Port Authority and Snuneymuxw First Nation are working together to identify an operator of a passenger ferry service between downtown Nanaimo and downtown Vancouver.
- An Expression of Interest for a passenger ferry operator yielded three interested parties in the project.
- An independent, Technical Advisory Group consisting of a National Accounting Firm and a Marine Transportation Consultant will now review the submissions and make a recommendation back to the City, NPA and SFN.
- Chartered accounting firm Ernst and Young and marine consultant Gordon Houston Associates have been selected to the Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
