Earthquake Simulator is coming to Nanaimo with an emergency preparedness message

Summary

The City of Nanaimo has teamed up with The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), Woodgrove Centre, 102.3 The Wave, 106.9 The Wolf, a well as the BC Earthquake Alliance to remind residents of the importance of earthquake preparedness as the Shakezone rolls into town.

Residents will have a unique opportunity to experience what it is like to live through an earthquake as well as receive valuable information on how residents can prepare for an emergency from various organizations that will be on site. The Shakezone is an earthquake simulator that residents can sit in and experience what a magnitude 8.0 earthquake feels like in a safe environment.

The Shakezone event is free and will be in Nanaimo on May 28th from 10am - 3pm at Woodgrove Centre. Arrive early as the simulator has limited seating Visitors will be seated on a first come first serve basis .
