City requests residents report storm damage

Summary

With the recent heavy rains and winds, the City of Nanaimo would like to remind residents to ensure their driveway culverts and private drains are clear of leaves and debris. Sandbags and sand is available to residents at the Public Works Yard at 2020 Labieux Rd. Please report any storm sewer back ups you may encounter to the Public Works Department.

Park and trails users are reminded to take care and use caution when using trails, boardwalks, stairs and bridges. Many of the trails and even playground equipment are wet and slippery this time of year. In addition, the recent weather systems may have led to broken branches and other debris on the trails and in the parks making the terrain hazardous.

Quotes

"At this time of year, a lot of debris has gathered over the winter over drains and storm sewers inlets. We encourage residents to ensure their drains are clear of leaves and other debris and to call Public Works if they come across any issues with the City's storm sewers or flooding."
