Key Points

  • The Municipal Commercial Vehicle Licensing Program is established by Provincial Statue under authority of the Local Government Act.
  • Its purpose is to provide a source of revenue to municipalities to offset the associated costs such as road maintenance, signage, snow removal and parking control.

Quotes

"The Commercial Vehicle Licensing Program has been in effect for decades within Nanaimo and the other 100 plus participating municipalities. Compliance has notably decreased. City Bylaw Enforcement Officers will be actively enforcing the provisions of the Commercial vehicle Licensing Bylaw when vehicles are found not to be in compliance."
