Key Points

  • "A Drive Through Time: Your Guide to Nanaimo's Historic Cemeteries, Burial Areas & Memorial Sites" is the eighth addition to Nanaimo's series of self-guided heritage tour brochures produced by the Culture & Heritage Department.
  • The series includes walking tours of Downtown, Harewood, Newcastle, South End, Nob Hill/Chinatown, and Old City; as well as a bike tour of Downtown.
  • Copies are available free of charge at City facilities, or can be sent directly to residents upon request by contacting the Culture & Heritage Department.

Quotes

"This self-guided driving tour identifies a number of key places of reflection and remembrance. In many cases, these historic cemeteries, burial areas and memorial sites are the only connection we have with the people who originally settled in Nanaimo and the surrounding lands."
