Colliery Dams Update

Summary

At its meeting held August 31, Nanaimo City Council was unable to make a decision on awarding a contract to construct the Lower Colliery Dam auxiliary spillway. In exchange of correspondence with the Provincial Comptroller of Water Rights, the City committed to have a contractor for construction of the auxiliary spillway in place by September 1, 2015 and construction of the auxiliary spillway substantially complete by November 1, 2015 (as required by the Comptroller’s Order dated April 29, 2015).

A Special Open Council meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday September 2 at 1:00 p.m. for Council to consider awarding the contract for the auxiliary spillway.
