Key Points

  • Nanaimo, Parks, Recreation and Environment encourage all users of the parks and trails systems to use caution when in the parks and on the trails, and to be aware of all fire hazards.
  • To report a fire in a City of Nanaimo park or trail, please call 911. To report a wildfire, please call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on most cellular networks.

Quotes

"With the hot temperatures coming earlier this year, fire season is upon us, so please be careful when enjoying our parks and trails as they are not irrigated and are subject to fires easily being started. Areas such as Westwood Lake, Neck Point Park and Piper's Lagoon, for example, have hundreds if not thousands of people a day so please don't smoke or have open flames in the parks."
