March 23, 2020 COVID-19 Update from Parks, Recreation and Culture

The City of Nanaimo is committed to keeping residents healthy and safe amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

As a measure to "flatten the curve" of the pandemic in our community, the following amenities are closed:

  • Sport courts (hockey, lacrosse, pickle ball, volleyball, basketball, tennis)
  • Skateboard parks
  • Steve Smith Bike park
  • Four gated dog parks - Beban, Wardopper, St. George Ravine, Northfield
  • Recreation facilities
  • Playgrounds

Please also:

  • Wash your hands before and after coming to our parks;
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or tissue;
  • Maintain social distancing;
  • Avoid touching your face; and,
  • Stay home if you are sick.
