Upgrades to Bastion Bridge set to begin March 25

Summary

The Bastion Street Bridge Renewal and Seismic Retrofit Project will address the current maintenance requirements, improve the seismic performance and extend the service life of the bridge. Work is scheduled to start March 25 and will be ongoing until August. One element of the maintenance work required is replacing the concrete deck - this will result in the bridge being closed to vehicles for approximately six weeks between May 21 and June 28. Pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained during the project.

The bridge closure will affect RDN Transit operations. The transit exchange will be relocated temporarily to 1 Port Drive on April 8 and will remain there until the end of August, subject to RDN Board approval.
