City of Nanaimo – Update

The Mayor and Council of the City of Nanaimo have received various enquiries about some key members of staff at the City.

Privacy laws prohibit the City from commenting on personnel matters. We are therefore unable to speak about any specific City employees.

We can advise that Mayor and Council have learned about an allegation of significant concern. We have requested a thorough and independent investigation which will be undertaken immediately to help the City move toward effective resolution.

We will continue to provide periodic updates within legal and privacy constraints in the interest of sharing critical information with residents and staff.

We take these concerns very seriously and share Nanaimo residents’ commitment to prudent and thoughtful governance and processes. Council is therefore committed to addressing and resolving these matters in the public interest.
