Georgia Greenway

Staff were onhand at the Active for Life Expo on Saturday, May 13, 2017 to provide information and gather public feedback on the first phase of this multi-use trail through the Harewood neighbourhood.

LED Streetlights Study

An open house was held on April 25, 2017 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre to provide information and gather public feedback on a study about converting City-owned streetlights to LED.

Colliery Dam Park Improvement Plan Project Update

An open house was held on April 1, 2017 in Colliery Dam Park to provide an update on the improvement action plan for the park and to gather feedback from park users.

New Website Beta-Testing

An information session was held on March 28, 2017 in the Service and Resource Centre (411 Dunsmuir Street) for residents interested in beta-testing the new City of Nanaimo website. The new website is expected to launch in the summer of 2017.

Harewood Centennial Park Improvements Update

An open house was held on March 16, 2017 at John Barsby Secondary School where City staff provided members of the public an update on the planned BMX and skate park facilities.

Events Centre - Phase Three Engagement

A total of eight information sessions were held February 9, 15, 16, 21, 23, March 1, 4 and 7, 2017. There, residents could find information on the proposed project before voting for or against borrowing $80 million to construct an events centre in a referendum on March 11, 2017. We would like to thank all residents who attended these information sessions.

On March 11, the community voted to not support borrowing $80 million to construct an events centre.

Events Centre – Phase Two Engagement

A series of open houses were held November 24, December 1 and December 8, 2016 at the Beban Park Social Centre where residents could find more information on the proposed events centre, provide feedback and ask questions. We thank the over 400 residents who attended. The information we received, along with the results from the online, telephone and paper surveys, was brought to Council on Monday, December 19, 2016.

Greater Nanaimo Water District Lands

An open house was held on December 3, 2016 at the Parks Operations Annex Building. We thank those who attended this event. The information we received, along with the results from the online survey, will be used to inform us on the best future use of these lands.
