Replacing Fire Station 1
A new Fire Station will go up on the current site of Station 1 located at 666 Fitzwilliam. Construction will be phased in to not disrupt current operations. The cost to build is estimated at $16.9 million.

City, RDN enter sewer service agreement
The City and Regional District of Nanaimo will share the cost of providing sanitary sewer service to the Cedar Landfill with the RDN contributing $45,000 per year.

Mapping the City’s data
A plan is being developed to increase the usage of GIS information and technology in the City. This information is used in many ways including the dispatching of emergency service calls, approval of development applications as well as the production of maps and other information products.

Educating on energy efficiency
The City will be participating in a local educational and engagement program to teach residents and businesses on energy efficiency. The program, Energy Step Code, is provided in partnership with the Province, BC Hydro, Urban Development Institute, Canadian Home Builder’s Association and municipalities across BC
