Parking
The Bylaw Services Department oversees the City's Parkade Maintenance and Parking Enforcement Contract with Robbins Parking. The Department also manages parking-related matters, such as the establishment of loading zones, resident parking and restricted parking areas for the City.

Saturday Parking Regulations
Nanaimo's downtown core is enjoying a surge in activity. Statistics indicate that there has been an increase in the number of vehicles travelling to and from the downtown core. It has also become apparent that during the weekends, many people are leaving their vehicles parked on downtown streets for long periods of time. In order to support the businesses and restaurants that stay open during the weekends, parking regulations will be in effect on Saturdays commencing June 25, 2005. This will ensure that convenient, accessible, short‑term on‑street parking becomes available for those people visiting the downtown core on Saturdays.
Until June 25th, the City's Parking Contractor, Robbins Parking Service, will be issuing warnings. If you have any questions, please contact either Robbins Parking Service at 753-6789, or the City of Nanaimo at 755-4491.
Parking Meters (on-street parking)
The fee to be placed in a parking meter pursuant to Schedule "A" and Section 5(5) of the Traffic and Highways Regulation Bylaw 5000, for standing, stopping or parking in each and every metered space during the time that parking meters are required to be operated, shall be as follows:

Parking Rates for Off-Street Facilities
The fee to be placed in a parking meter, pursuant to Section 6(7) of this Bylaw, for standing, stopping or parking in each and every metered space in an off-street parking facility during the time that parking meters are required to be operated shall be equivalent to those set out for ticket dispensing machines.
Ticket Dispensing Machines (Off-Street Parking)
The fee to be placed in a ticket dispensing machine, pursuant to Section 6(7) of this Bylaw, for standing, stopping or parking in each and every marked parking space in an off-street parking facility during the time that parking permits issued from ticket dispensing machines are required, shall be 50 cents for each hour in all off-street parking facilities with the exception of Brechin Boat ramp, which shall be $1.00 for a one hour period, and with the exception of the Port of Nanaimo Centre Parkade, Harbourfront Parkade and the Bastion Street Parkade.
