Habitat Atlas
The Habitat Atlas is a combination of map-based information and inventories on the City's watercourses and environmentally sensitive areas, as well as background information on specific features and wildlife found within the City's many aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
In addition, information is available on climate change and how the City is addressing this issue. Real-time links to the provincial air monitoring stations in Nanaimo, and the provincial government's air quality measures information isalso be provided.
Opportunities for the public to share their naturalist observations, photographs, and stories will be made available as the Habitat Atlas evolves.
Please feel free to send comments on this initiative, or any other site features to the Webmaster.
Nature of Nanaimo 2006
The Nature of Nanaimo is a free program that offers residents with an interest and curiosity in nature, to discover some of the truly special natural spaces we have in our local parks. With the generous support of a number of local volunteer naturalists, each event helps describe what environmentally sensitive areas are and the important role they play to a great number of species living in the City.
For 2006, we are planning events for the coming Fall. Look for further details in the Fall/Winter City Leisure Guide.
